
SDA prioritizes Asset-based programming and execution, capacity building, networking and partnership, gender mainstreaming, community-driven and initiated development projects.
As part of the Governance Structure, SDA has 7 Management body led by the CEO to oversee the overall day to day operation of the secretariat. The CEO has a 15+ years of Rich Experience in International Organizations, Local NGOs and Government Sectors from Expertise to Managerial Roles. Besides all Management members have minimum of Bachelor Degrees in their respective profession and rich in Experience working in SDA and out. Volunteers and Woreda Level representatives manifested enough commitment to discharge Local community Level activities and mobilization whenever needed. Currently, SDA has 83 Staffs among which 24 are stationed at Head Office and the rest work in Branches and Liaison Office.
SDA’s Financial Accounts are regularly examined by External Auditors at the end of every budget Year. The Financial system in place is a computerized Accounting System and the Account, as well as Bank, is monthly reconciled where Management Body regularly monitors the Financial Status of the Organization. Project Audits are made at both at the middle and phase-out stages for both regulatory and Government bodies.
SDA is a membership organization, with members drawn both from within Sidama National Regional State, Other parts of the Country, where natives of Sidama reside and/or work. Moreover, SDA has members from abroad/Diaspora comprising Sidama natives and supporters of its objectives. SDA has four levels of governance structure overseen by Sidaama National Regional Council: General Assembly, Board of Management, Management Body and Branch/Liaison offices.
Since its founding, SDA has supported the implementation of more than 126 big projects with over USD 1,887,667.81 in partnership with, NGOs, Government, CBOs, and Own Sources and have benefited over 2 million citizens. Besides, it has effectively mobilized the community for self- sponsored Development initiatives that have become a learning point for others within and outside the Region. Over the past years, SDA executed the construction of 15 schools, furnishing 30 schools, construction of 7 health posts, and 2 health centers, implemented 2 HIV/AIDS-related projects and capacity building projects, Engaged in two health projects on RH/FP, Anti-Natal Material Care and HIV/AIDS funds obtained from USAID WL/GSM, Glimmer of Hope. Pathfinder International, Engender Health, PATH International, and VSO. In addition, a girls-focused scholarship benefiting 60 girls fund obtained from the Ambassadors scholarship program of the American Government. Recently SDA in partnership with South Korea developed a pilot Hydropower project to allow access to electricity for rural communities.
